[Intl-stu] FW: Reminder from the summer about the redesigned I-20

This week the Office of International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) has assisted a couple of international students who still have the old I-20 form.  The ISSS sent out a number of emails in summer 2016 ( see below) reminding students that the old version I-20 would no longer be valid after July 1, 2016. For a sample of the re-designed I-20 see the attached handout.  If your most recently issued I-20 (as indicated on DATE ISSUED on I-20) does not look like the I-20 on pages 3-5 on the attached handout then you will need to request a new I-20 immediately at I-20 Update Request Form<http://www.tamuc.edu/campusLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServices/i-20-update-request-form.aspx>.  Please note the old format I-20, an example is on page 2 of the attached handout, will not be valid for re-entry.

In summer 2015 the Student Exchange Visitor Program created a redesigned I-20 for F-1 and F-2 visa holders.  After July 1, 2016 the old form I-20 will no longer be accepted (for re-entry, to apply for benefits, etc.).

Please review your current I-20 based on the criteria below to determine if you will need to request an updated I-20.  You may go to Study in the States<https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/Redesigned%20Form%20I-20%20Fact%20Sheet.pdf> for more information.  For a sample of the new I-20 go to Re-Designed I-20<https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/SEVP_Form%20I-20%20Blog%20Post_v1.png>.

*        If your most recently issued I-20 (please review Date Issued on the first page of the I-20) was issued prior to June 26, 2015 then you will need to request a new I-20 from the ISSS by submitting the I-20 Update Request Form<http://www.tamuc.edu/campusLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServices/formsAndOnlineServices.aspx>.

*        If your most recently issued I-20 (please review Date Issued on the first page of the I-20) was issued on or after  June 26, 2015 then you do not need a new I-20.

If your current I-20's Date Issued was before June 26, 2015 then you will need to request an updated I-20 at I-20 Update Request Form<http://www.tamuc.edu/campusLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServices/formsAndOnlineServices.aspx>.
