The ISSO will be sponsoring a trip to the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo on Friday, February 8, 2013. This year is the 117th showdown year for the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. We invite all of our international students to join us for a heart pounding rodeo, world class livestock, kid-friendly exhibits, live music, cowboy cuisine, our “Moo-seum Experience,” the carnival/midway and four acres of incredible shopping. Most exhibits (except the carnival area) are located inside in climate controlled areas. What should you bring? Family. Friends. A dream. Your appetite. A show of pride to cheer our heroes on. Maybe even a trailer to bring home all your Stock Show treasures. Whatever it is, just bring it! “Bring It!” means taking a dream and making it real. It means punch it! Push it! Go for it! This year’s heroes are ready to show you what they’ve got and are ready for you to “Bring It!.” For more information go to http://www.fwssr.com/.
The cost of the trip is $40 which will include transportation, admission to the rodeo and admission to three world-class museums (The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, The Cattle Raisers Museum, and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame). There is a carnival area, food area, and other entertainment venues that are also on the grounds but are an extra expense not included in the $40 registration fee.
We must have at least 50 students attend to secure a group rate or the trip will be cancelled. To sign up, go to the ISSO in Hallday 104 in person to register (no emails, phone call sign up) and submit your $40 registration fee (cash or money order only). Sign-up begins today, Friday, January 18, and goes through Thursday, January 24. Be sure to bring exact change- $40- if you are paying with cash. The deadline to sign up is Thursday, January 24, at 4pm.
Students will need to meet at the Rayburn Student Center parking lot at 8:15am (Do not arrive late). This is parking lot 23 on the campus map at http://www.tamuc.edu/aboutUs/theCampus/campusMap.pdf. We plan to arrive back in Commerce at 10pm that evening. Students who ride the bus to the rodeo are required to return on the bus to Commerce.
