U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has very few
exceptions to the full course of study requirement and students are
required to have the permission of the ISSO prior to enrolling in less
than a full course of study. Failure to enroll in a full course of
study as defined by USCIS (see below) will lead to a violation of your
visa status. Below is a list of exceptions allowed by USCIS:
* Student with only thesis or dissertation to graduate
* Student with full-time graduate assistantship
* Student in their last semester and enrolled in last required
course(s) (if you have one course left it cannot be an online "W"
course)
* Student concurrently enrolling in courses at A&M-Commerce and
another school (must contact ISSO to discuss enrollment)
If you will enroll in less than a full course of study for the spring
semester based on one of the above exceptions you will need to submit
the Report Less than Required Hours
<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGV1alVuM2h2TUllbW
R4My1TNzFESEE6MQ> form immediately. To submit the form you will need
to go to

dentServices/formsAndOnlineServices.aspx
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/studentLife/campusServices/internationalSt
udentServices/formsAndOnlineServices.aspx> .
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY SUBMITTED THE FORM FOR THE SPRING 2013 SEMESTER DO
NOT SUBMIT IT AGAIN.
If you will enroll in less than a full course of study for the spring
semester and do not meet one of the exceptions above you will need to
contact the ISSO immediately to discuss your situation. USCIS allows
very few exceptions to the full course of study requirement and failure
to enroll in the proper number of courses will lead to a violation of
your visa status. You must have the permission of the ISSO before
enrolling in less than a full course of study and our office must
confirm if your situation meets one of the allowed exceptions by USCIS.
As a reminder, all international students are required by U.S.
Citizenship and Immigration Services to enroll in a full course of study
each fall and spring semester. A full course of study is:
* Minimum of 12 semester credit hours for undergraduate student
each fall and spring semester
* Minimum of 9 semester credit hours for graduate student each
fall and spring semester
* Students are not required to enroll for the summer semester
unless it is their first semester at A&M-Commerce
* Only one (1) online course counts toward the full course of
study requirement
Be sure to contact the ISSO with any questions or concerns.
