If you plan to travel outside the U.S. during the summer please remember
the following:

* Your I-20 must have a travel signature on the last page of the
I-20 signed/dated within 12 months of the date you plan to re-enter the
U.S. A signature is not required each time you depart and is valid for
12 months beyond the date of the signature. Please see below for
information on how to request a travel signature.

* If your visa has expired then you will need to renew your visa
before you may re-enter the U.S. For more information or a list of the
required documents to renew your visa please visit the Department of
State website <http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html>
or Immigration and Customs Enforcement website
<http://www.ice.gov/sevis/travel/faq_f2.htm> .

* Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months from
the date you re-enter the U.S.

* Your I-94 must be turned in at your point of departure
(ex...airport) and you will be issued a new I-94 when you re-enter the
U.S. If you fail to turn in your I-94 before you depart the U.S. please
contact the ISSO.

* The Department of State website recommends F-1 students be
prepared to provide proof of financial support (bank and sponsor
statement) and an unofficial transcript at the port of entry. Students
may print a copy of their unofficial transcript through myLEO
<https://leo.tamu-commerce.edu/> .

If you are traveling within the U.S. during the summer it is strongly
recommended that you keep your immigration documents (visa, passport,
I-94, and I-20) with you at all times or easily accessible.

To request a travel signature complete the Travel Signature Request Form
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/studentLife/campusServices/internationalSt
udentServices/documents/TravelSignatureRequestForm.pdf> at
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms/travelsignaturerequestf
orm%28c%29.pdf and provide all information on the form. You will need
to bring your I-20 and signature request form to the ISSO in Halladay
104 or mail the I-20 and signature request form to the ISSO at the
address listed on the request form. You may also come in person to the
ISSO to complete a signature request form and drop off your I-20.

Please make your request at least 1-2 weeks prior to your departure to
allow the ISSO time to process your request. The ISSO will process all
travel signature requests within 1-3 business days.

A travel itinerary may be requested by the ISSO. Students who return on
or after the start August 27 will need to request a faculty travel
letter
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms/Faculty%20travel%20let
ter.pdf> from all instructor(s) whose class you will miss. Please
review the Travel Signature Request Form for more information and a
sample faculty travel letter
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms/Faculty%20travel%20let
ter.pdf> .

IT IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT STUDENTS ARRIVE BACK IN COMMERCE ON TIME
(AUGUST 27) TO BEGIN CLASSES FOR THE FALL SEMESTER. Many academic
departments are becoming less tolerant of students who arrive late for
the start of the semester and miss class(s). Failure to return on time
to Commerce to begin your classes in the fall may result in academic
penalties which may lead to visa status issues.
