[Intl-stu] Immigration regulations reminder

[International Students]

Attached to this email is an Immigration Basics for F-1 Visa advising
form.  Please read over the attached information sheet and save it for
your records.  Please remember:

*        All F-1 students are required by USCIS to enroll in a full
course of study each fall and spring semester.  A full course of study
is at least twelve (12) credit hours for undergraduate students and at
least nine (9) credit hours for graduate students.  Only one (1) online
"W" course counts toward the full course of study requirement.

*        Students MUST have the permission from the ISSO BEFORE they
enroll in less than a full course of study or drop below a full course
of study.  DO NOT DROP BELOW A FULL COURSE OF STUDY DURING THE SEMESTER
OR YOU WILL BE IN VIOLATION OF YOUR VISA STATUS.       

*        F-1 students must have the permission of the ISSO and/or USCIS
before they are employed off-campus.  Do not work off-campus without
permission!

*        USCIS requires students to update any change of address to the
international office within ten (10) days of moving.  Students may
update their address by completing the online request form at 
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms.asp.

 

The ISSO will issue letters for students to verify enrollment, for
concurrent enrollment, or to invite immediate family (mother, father,
brother, sister) to the U.S. for graduation or to visit.  Students are
no longer required to have a letter from the international office to
apply for or renew driver's license (state ID).

 

To request a letter from the ISSO, to update your address, update your
I-20, or to make any other request please go to 
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms.asp and complete the
