Just a reminder regarding working off-campus and volunteering.
International students are not allowed to work off-campus without
permission from the ISSO and/or USCIS. Any off-campus employment
authorization will be posted on the last page of the I-20 under the
employment authorization section. If this page does not have any
employment authorization then you are not allowed to work off-campus.
Any employment authorization and/or Employment Authorization Document
(EAD card) that was issued through another school is no longer valid
once you begin classes at A&M-Commerce.
A social security card with For Employment Authorization written on it
is not permission to work off-campus. You still will be required to
receive permission from the ISSO and/or USCIS.
Also, students who wish to "volunteer" off-campus at a company will need
to first contact the ISSO to discuss their proposed volunteer work.
In very limited circumstances, a student may be issued an EAD card that
is related to an application for a change of visa status (ex...permanent
resident). If you have been issued an EAD card related to an
application for a change of visa status please contact the ISSO
immediately. Any employment authorization and/or Employment
Authorization Document (EAD card) that was issued through another school
is no longer valid once you begin classes at A&M-Commerce.
USCIS states any unauthorized off-campus employment is a violation of
the F-1 visa rules and any student who is caught working off-campus
without the appropriate permission will have their SEVIS record and I-20
terminated. Students who work off-campus without permission will not be
eligible to apply for a reinstatement to their visa status. Please
don't risk it!
