[Intl-stu] Are you traveling during the Thanksgiving break?

[International Students]

If you plan on traveling outside the U.S. during the Thanksgiving break
you will need the following documents:

*        Valid passport, visa, and I-94.  If your visa has expired you
will need to renew it before you can re-enter the U.S.  Please go to 
http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1268.html for information
on renewing your visa and http://www.ice.gov/sevis/travel/faq_f.htm for
travel information.  

*        Current I-20 with a travel signature with a date that is within
12 months of the date you plan to re-enter.  Please see below if you
need a travel signature.  

*        If you will miss any classes during your travels then you will
be required to provide a letter from your instructor(s) granting
permission to miss class.  For a sample letter please go to 
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms.asp and click on
Faculty Travel Letter.  

*        The Department of State website also recommends students be
prepared to present an unofficial transcript and/or proof of financial
support (bank/sponsor statement) at the port of entry.  The bank/sponsor
statement should reflect a minimum balance of $17500.    

 

If you need to request a travel signature please complete the attached
Travel Signature Request form and submit your I-20 to the ISSO at least
5-10 business days before your departure date.  The ISSO may request a
copy of your travel itinerary at our discretion.  If you are located
outside of Commerce and are unable to bring your I-20 in person to the
ISSO you will need to follow the mailing instructions provided on the
Travel Signature Request form.  

 

The ISSO strongly recommends that students travel with their passport,
visa, I-94, and I-20 at all times regardless of whether they are
traveling within the U.S. or outside the U.S.  Please see the attached F
and J Travel information sheet for more information.
