[Intl-stu] Insurance update

Here is the latest update regarding the insurance charges of student
accounts:
I submitted a report to the Bursar's office on Friday, January 28 that
included all students who have provided us information to show their
exemption (GA insurance, etc.) and I have been forwarding any and all
emails to their office to have the accounts reflect the appropriate
changes.
At this time and to the best of our ability after multiple reviews all
accounts have been corrected in the university database by my office but
it is now a technology issue that has been creating havoc. Due to the
technology issue, while my office has updated the accounts these updates
are not being reflected in student accounts. The Bursar is having to go
into each account individually to make updates based on my reports.
Also, the university was closed for three out of five business days last
week and this put most university offices seriously behind on their many
responsibilities which is adding to the delay.
I spoke to the Bursar's office on Thursday of last week and they were in
the process of reviewing accounts but the university was closed again on
Friday. I would ask you to be patient as the Bursar reviews all
accounts to make sure they are accurate in the insurance charges. I
greatly appreciate your patience with this process and we are working
very hard to make sure it goes better in the future. Please do not
contact the Bursar directly regarding your insurance exemption (removal
of charge) because they will simply refer you back to me. Again, they
have the information to the best of our knowledge and we are awaiting
the corrections.
Some of you may be concerned about having your classes dropped after
20th class day if this is not resolved. If this issue continues beyond
this week then my office will obviously work to adjust the deadline to
allow time for all accounts to be resolved.
I do sincerely apologize for all of these problems and we will work hard
to make sure this process is much easier by fall. It is my hope that
all accounts will be corrected by the end of this week. If by Thursday,
February 10 your account is still not corrected email
John_Jones at tamu-commerce.edu and I will contact the Bursar immediately
to resolve the issue.
I will stress, if the insurance charge does not show up on your account
and it should please contact John_Jones at tamu-commerce.edu immediately as
you will not have medical insurance for this semester.
Thanks
