[Intl-stu] International Lion Scholarship Award

[International Students]

The International Student Services office (ISSO) is offering the
International Lion Scholarship (ILS), a $1000 competitive scholarship,
for the first time this spring 2010 semester to one (1) F-1
international student.  Please see the attached application for more
information.  

 

Only students who were enrolled in a full course of study (twelve (12)
semester credit hours as an undergraduate student or nine (9) semester
credit hours as a graduate student)at Texas A&M University-Commerce for
the fall 2009 semester and are currently enrolled in a full course of
study for the spring 2010 semester will be considered.  

 

The recipient of this scholarship:

*	Must be a continuing F-1 visa international student currently
enrolled in a full course of study and have not applied for permanent
residency or had an H1-B visa petition filed on their behalf during
spring or summer semester.
*	Must have been enrolled in a full course of study for previous
fall semester
*	Must be enrolled in a full course of study for the spring 2010
semester.  There are no special requirements for students enrolling in
the summer    
*	Must have a 3.5 or higher GPA at time of application and
maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA for spring and summer semesters
*	Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the
university 
*	Must be in good financial standing with the university
*	Must include an original letter of recommendation from academic
advisor/department on department letterhead with application  

 

Applications for the ILS will be due no later than Monday, January 19 at
4pm in the ISSO in Halladay 104.   Students must submit their
application in person (no exceptions).  Please bring CWID when
submitting your application.  Email, faxed, late, or applications
dropped off by friends will not be considered.  Students who fail to
include a letter of recommendation from their academic
advisor/department will not be considered.  The ILS recipient will be
announced via email no later than 5pm on Thursday, January 21.
