International Students intl-stu at TAMU-Commerce.edu
Tue May 12 10:19:07 CDT 2009

The ISSO would like to congratulate all of our graduates this Spring
2009. Each of you have worked very hard and we are very proud of you
and your accomplishments! For more information on the commencement
(graduation) schedule and room assignments please visit
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/registrar/graduation.asp
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/registrar/graduation.asp> and view the
attached commencement form.

This is a very exciting time for each of you that will be graduating and
you should be very proud and excited in your accomplishments. The
commencement ceremony has a very rich tradition at Texas A&M University-
Commerce, and while it is an exciting time for graduates and their
friends and families, the ceremony is traditionally solemn and
dignified. In keeping with these traditions, all participants are
requested to refrain from any semblance of celebration as they proceed
across the stage following receipt of the diploma. It is also requested
that you inform your guests in the audience to refrain from making
distracting noises during this time. Since candidates proceed across the
stage in fairly rapid order, such interruption may override the name of
the next graduate.

The reading of the graduating student's name is a very cherished moment
during the commencement ceremony for both the graduate and their guests.
If audience members are celebrating excessively and loudly this may
prevent the next graduate's name from being heard when it is read. Out
of respect for all participants and their guests we ask that you and
your guest please abide by the commencement guidelines.

I would also request that you ask any of your guests to please refrain
from moving around during the ceremony unless absolutely necessary. One
issue during the Fall 2008 ceremony involved international students
continually moving around during the commencement ceremony which was
disruptive to audience members. Please encourage your guests to find a
seat in which they are comfortable and refrain from moving around unless
absolutely necessary.

Please be sure to be in your assigned room AT LEAST 15 MINUTES before
the time listed on the link as your tardiness may delay the ceremony.
