Subject: Multicultural Festival -Friday, April 6, 2007

Time to celebrate and have FUN!

Every spring we honor and celebrate the international students and their
cultural differences at Texas A&M University-Commerce with the Multicultural
Festival. This year the Festival is scheduled for Friday, April 6, 11am-2pm,
American & Texas Ballrooms, 3rd floor of the MSC building.

The Festival is co-sponsored by the International Student Services (ISS) and
the Association of International Student (AIS) to provide the opportunity
for all students to represent and showcase their countries with their
presence and their unique cultures. The activities in the Festival include
the Flag Parade; exotic food tasting; arts, crafts, and culture display; and
talent show on stage.

This spring we have 446 international students from 51 countries enrolled at
TAMU-Commerce. Surely, we can have a good number of participants and we can
make this Festival a huge success.

Even if you are the only student from your country on campus, you should
sign up to participate so that your country can be represented in this
Festival. The least you can do is to sign up to carry the flag of your
country in the Flag parade. The flag of your country will be provided by the
ISS; all you have to do is sign up to be the flag carrier.

Students from the country that have an active registered organization on
campus should have more people to do more than just a flag parade.

I would encourage all international students to be thinking and planning
what you can do to represent your country in this Festival over the spring
break and try to contact me as soon as possible after the spring break to
let me know which activity you want to participate in so that I will have
enough time to arrangement for the items you need for your activities.

The ISS will provide the flags, the tables for display items, and funding
for the cost of food served in the food tasting.

There will be a contest for the talent show on stage. The Caribbean Students
Association, the Chinese Student Association, the Indian Student
Association, the Thai Student Association, and other individuals have won
the talent show contest in the past and their names were engraved on the
plaque hanging in the ISS office for recognition. Your organization or you
can have the same recognition again this year.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to represent your country by
participating in this Festival.

Call the International Student Services 903-886-5097 for more details and
signing up to participate.

Thank you.
