Subject: New students in Spring 2007

This message is primarily directed for NEW students enrolled at our
university for the first time in Spring 2007.

Several new students ask this question:

Is it required for me to register for any classes in the summer 2007?

The answer is:

It depends on your situation. The F-1 regulations only require all
international students to be enrolled full time (9 hours for grads/ 12 hours
for undergrads) every spring and fall semesters; summer semesters are always
optional so you are not required to take any classes in the summer.

However, if you are the recipients of the housing scholarship that requires
you to be enrolled full time in the summer then you must be enrolled in the
summer to maintain your scholarship eligibility. You must read your
scholarship contracts or contact the scholarship office for clarification on
your requirement for summer enrollment.
