SUBJECT: Important Reminder

Spring 2005 is coming to an end soon. This e-mail is sent to remind all
international students.
1.	If spring 2005 is your last registered semester and you want to
apply for OPT, you must make an appointment with the international student
adviser to file for OPT application no later than May 6, 2005. Your OPT
application will be rejected by the immigration adjudicator if it reaches
the immigration service center after the last day of this semester.
Information on OPT is available at
http://www7.tamu-commerce.edu/international/Fall_2004/events_announcements.h
tm#optsp05

2.	If you will graduate on May 14, 2005 but do not want to apply for
OPT, you will have 60 days grace period to do one of these options:
		a) depart the US, b) transfer out to other school or
continue on to another degree as a full time student at TAMU-Commerce, c)
change your status from F-1 to other legal status in the US. Whichever
option you choose, you must inform the international student adviser and
take action within the 60 days grace period. Failure to take action within
60 days will result in SEVIS termination and you will be out-of-status.
      3. All international students are responsible to maintain the
validity of their I-20. Check the date on # 5 of page I of your current
I-20. If it shows "the date to complete
studies not later than May 31, 2005" but you cannot actually
complete your study by this date, you MUST contact the International Student
Adviser to request
an extension of the I-20 during the first week of May, 2005.
Failure to extend your I-20 before its expiration date will result in
out-of-status and ineligibility for CPT
           or OPT.
When requesting an extension of your I-20, you are required to
provide a new and current Financial/Bank statement in the amount of $8000
for one semester
and $15,500 for 2 semesters. Click this link for more
information.
