CMS Editors,
Recently, we had an update which affected how you logged into Cascade. Here are several changes we noted: some accounts were successfully updated to sync to AD credentials (This means logging into Cascade with your lastname and your current computer password), some users lost their group roles, accounts were not able to sync with AD credentials due to name variables or other issues. In addition, Cascade is now behind our firewall. This means you must use VPN to access Cascade if you are off campus.
Here are some of the common questions I have received and solutions to help you in the interim:
· Why can't I log in?
o Try logging in with your AD credentials - lastnamefirstname and computer password
o Log in with your previous Cascade user name and password
o Still can't log in with AD credentials or previous Cascade user name then please send an email to helpdesk at tamuc.edu<mailto:helpdesk at tamuc.edu> and indicate that you are unable to access Cascade. State what department and webpage you have been given access to.
· I am a GA or Student Worker, why can't I log in?
o You must have an AD account.
§ How can I access an AD account? Turn in a IT Systems Access Request<http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/CITESupportCenter/documents/ITSystemsAccessRequestForm.pdf> Form with your Department Head Signature with AD selected.
o How can I make sure that I have turned in the IT Systems Access Request Form? Email helpdesk at tamuc.edu<mailto:helpdesk at tamuc.edu> and ask if your IT Systems Access Request Form is recorded with AD and Cascade selected.
· I can log in but I can't see the Edit tab or CV & Syllabi folder
o Your group role has been removed. Please email helpdesk and indicate what department/webpage you had rights to edit.
· I used to access Cascade from home, but now I can't. Why not?
o Cascade is now behind TAMUC firewall. You will need to use VPN<http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/CITESupportCenter/selfHelp/FacultyStaff/vpn-client.aspx> to access Cascade. You may visit CITE Knowledge Base webpage on VPN Client<http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/CITESupportCenter/selfHelp/FacultyStaff/vpn-client.aspx> to learn how to VPN or contact our helpdesk at x6000 or helpdesk at tamuc.edu<mailto:helpdesk at tamuc.edu> if you need assistance.
· I can still log in not using my AD credentials
o Email helpdesk to indicate your Cascade account has not been sync with your AD credentials. Also, list what department and webpage you have rights to edit.
I appreciate your understanding and patience as we work through these new changes and updates.
