[CBW_Exec] CCCC 2009 (Take 2)

Hello, Shannon and all. Although I am weighing in a bit late (putting my
energies alternately toward other CBW conversations, and the humongous
stack of end-of-semester essays on my desk), I've checked out the latest
version and think this will be an excellent workshop. I really like the
way that the early sessions bring out multiple theories and values
underlying our approaches to literacy, and then the later segments focus
on practices in multiple literacies that should work in a wide variety
of institutional sites and conditions. Great work, beautiful work!

Hi, all--

Thanks for your great feedback and suggestions. I think I've
incorporated/addressed the changes/concerns Kathleen pointed out. Just
two things, Kathleen: (1) at the "breakout groups" section in the
afternoon (2:45-3:30), you suggest "Maybe start with who is doing this
first part?" I'm a little confused there, so I'm not quite sure how to
address your question. Maybe Hannah can jump in here? We sort of divided
it up so one was responsible for the morning and hte other was primarily
responsible for the afternoon (Hannah's was the afternoon). (2) Yep,
Elizabeth Campbell is a new board member. I understand Barbara Gleason
put the name forward and we voted her in during our Executive Board
meeting. At least that's what I understand. Thanks for your suggestions
and guidance!

Contact info: I've tried to get the changes to contact information
worked out. Let me know if we need to make any additional
changes/additions.

Title: Thanks for your great suggestion, Rebecca! Susan was unhappy with
the original title for similar reasons, but I was stubborn (imagine
that!). My thought/hope was that the title was working directly against
the notion that what students called "basic writers" can't do should be
the focus of our work (calling forward the amazing work of folks like
Kurtz and Adler-Kassner and Mutnick and Gray-Rosendale and now
Roozen[among others] that shows us the many, many
intellectually-rigorous activities in which our students are involved
every single day). So my hope was that the readers would get exactly the
opposite notion from the original title. But that's two votes against
it, suggesting that we absolutely need to change it. And I like the one
you offered better, so if there are no objections I'd like to go with
that one.

I think we'll try to get it into the system this weekend, just in case
we run into any difficulties. I'm very concerned this will be too long,
but we'll see what the limits are and get it in from there.

Thanks for your input! Attached is the revision, just in case you have
any additional ideas/suggestions.
