Dear Kathleen and Shannon,

Hannah Ashley is interested in reviewing and I've also heard from two
other folks who want to write for BWe. Also-- Rebecca Mylanarcyk and
Deborah Mutnick have agreed to join the CWB board-- so we'll have 2
more potential reviewers. :)

MEANWHILE: Below you'll find the CFP for BWe reviews of CCCC. Could
either of you make about 100 copies for me to distribute. I'm not
able to make copies at LaGuardia. Shannon-- if you're able to do
this, I could pick them up from you on Tuesday night. Anyway-- here's
the CFP and please do let me know if you are able to do this.

Peace and good journey,

Susan

Attending CCCC? Write for BWe! Looking forward to hearing from you!

Warmly,

Co-Chair, Conference on Basic Writing

CFP for Basic Writing Electronic Journal
Last year CBW co-chair Kathleen Baca and I attended a dynamite session on Mina
Shaunessy's legacy at CUNY, now featured in the current issue of the
Journal of Basic Writing. I believe it was Mary Soliday who reminded
us that Mina Shaughnessy used to assign her colleagues to
attend CCCC sessions related to Basic Writing so that they could
review together important trends in the field.

Kathleen and I agreed that we wanted to implement this approach for CCCC 2008.
So we'd like to propose that conference attendees write a review of
at least one Basic Writing-related session. We plan to publish these
reviews in a forthcoming issue of BWe.

Reviews should be 500-700 words long and should be sent to Susan Naomi
Bernstein at susan.naomi at gmail.com by June 15, 2008.

To find a session of interest to you, please complete the following steps:

--Read through the sessions in the BW brochure and/or the CCCC program.

--Find a session that you would like to attend. We'd like to request
that you not review your
own presentations (wonderful as those will be!)-- but to choose
something that is perhaps new to you or outside of your area. This
way we'll be able to cover a good cross section of the interesting
work that our colleagues are doing across the country. The session you
attend should be BW-focused or should focus on a related category,
such as urban education, innovative pedagogy, education for social
justice, ESL learners, learners who are differently abled, and so on.

-- Please send submissions by June 15, 2008 to Susan Naomi Bernstein
at susan.naomi at gmail.com .

--Please feel free to email me in advance if you have questions or
concerns or would like to suggest a session to attend.
