[BSW] BSW FIELD PLACEMENTS

Future BSW Field Students, we are entering uncertain times with placements,   I am working on locating placements for you and want you to understand that you may not be able to have your choice due to certain agencies being closed to interns.   Hospitals, schools, long-term care and other agencies are very unclear as to when they will be open as they were in the past.  I am working with As many of my contacts as possible and want you to be proactive in your education.   If you have contacts now is the opportunity to be proactive and reach out to them for possible placements.
 I want to address hours, orientation, summer classes.

1. We will have an orientation on Cinco De Mayo--May 5, 2020.  It will be held in D2L, YOUSEEYOU.   Since we normally hold a mandatory face-to-face orientation, this will be a live online session at 2:00 PM on May 5, 2020. There is a great deal of important information to share before you begin field AND this will be a chance to answer many questions you may have.  Your attendance is required. The orientation also includes information about your academic class--SWK 422.   Please watch your LEO-Mail for instructions.

2.  Summer will be remote education for both field seminar (SWK 425) and the concurrent academic class (SWK 422).

3.  A reduction in the number of clock hours required for the BSW internship has been approved by CSWE.   You will complete 100 hours over 10 Weeks in the Summer and then 240 hours over 15 weeks in the Fall.  This represents an overall reduction of 120 hours from previous years.

The information related to hours is current as of 4/20/2020.   Any changes by CSWE will be incorporated once approved.
