Dear Colleagues,

I am delighted to share the appointment of Dr. Tami Morton as Director of the university's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), Foundations for Your Future, effective May 18, 2026.

A longtime member of the East Texas A&M faculty, Dr. Morton brings more than thirteen years of experience in higher education leadership, assessment, faculty development, curriculum innovation, and student success initiatives. She currently
serves as Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction and President of the Faculty Advisory Council. Prior to this appointment, she served as Assistant Department Head for Curriculum and Instruction, where she provided leadership for master's
and doctoral programs and supported a variety of institutional initiatives.

As QEP Director, Dr. Morton will lead the continued implementation of Foundations for Your Future, one of the university's signature student success initiatives. Through a student-ready approach, the QEP seeks to ensure that students
can connect their academic learning to meaningful career pathways, professional development opportunities, and lifelong success. The initiative supports students in recognizing, articulating, and demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and experiences they gain
through coursework, experiential learning, reflection, and engagement beyond the classroom. Through this work, East Texas A&M is strengthening its commitment to preparing graduates who are ready to thrive in their professions, adapt to an evolving workforce,
and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Dr. Morton brings the ideal combination of institutional knowledge, collaborative leadership, and commitment to student success. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated an exceptional ability to bring people together around shared
goals, support faculty innovation, and advance meaningful educational experiences for students.

Her leadership experience includes service as Provost Fellow, Assistant Department Head, Chair of the General Education Core Review, President of the Faculty Advisory Council, and Chair of the College Tenure and Promotion Committee.
In addition, she created the university-wide Lion's Study initiative, which celebrates faculty scholarship and promotes cross-campus engagement.

Dr. Morton also brings extensive experience in assessment, accreditation preparation, institutional effectiveness, curriculum review, and grant-funded initiatives—all areas that align closely with the goals of the QEP and East Texas
A&M's commitment to being a student-ready university.

A nationally recognized scholar and educator, Dr. Morton holds a Ph.D. in Reading Education from the University of North Texas and has received numerous honors for excellence in teaching, leadership, and service.

Please join me in congratulating Dr. Morton on her new role and welcoming her to the office of Transformative Learning.

Warm regards,
