<p class="MsoNormal">Multiple reports have reached the Provost’s Office regarding instructors scheduling specific times to do synchronous (i.e. at a designated day/time) testing of their asynchronous online sections.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">As a result students have been missing from their regularly scheduled in-person courses to take examinations for other courses.

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Sections that include the letter “W” (e.g. 01W, 02W, 03W, etc.) in their section numbers
<i>are not</i> permitted to set synchronous meeting or testing requirements.  So, in the future, other arrangements will have to be made.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Beginning this semester, the section designation “SW” debuted, allowing faculty to teach online with a designated meeting time for synchronous instruction.  If an instructor is willing to commit to a full semester meeting at a designated
 time, but still teach online, the “SW” section designation is the appropriate one.<o:p></o:p></p>
