Dear A&M-Commerce faculty and staff, I would like to take a brief moment and simply say to all of you – THANK YOU! Given the rapidly evolving situation with the COVID-19 virus, the move to put all courses online was necessarily rapid. While
we did not want to impede the tremendous number of students already enrolled in online coursework, taking our face-to-face courses online in such short order was clearly a daunting task, particularly for those instructors not accustomed to online teaching
and the robust tools available in our LMS. BUT YOU DID IT. Moreover, you did it with good humor, professionalism, creativity, and empathy. I know that there is a lot of work going on out there currently and that you are endeavoring to make your courses even
better. I know that many of you are working hard to gain experience with new tools and techniques. I know that many of you are assisting your colleagues across campus with your experience and expertise in online education. And yes, we have further to go. But
I am proud of you and greatly appreciate your tireless efforts and dedication to our students. Now, more than ever, we must offer our students high quality instruction and robust engagement, but we must also do it with a spirit of compassion, caring, and flexibility.
I have no doubt that you are up to the challenge. Finally, if you do not get anything else out of this message, let me end where I started. To all of you, THANK YOU!
