<p class="MsoNormal">You are cordially invited to hear Dr. Christopher Gonzalez, of the Department of Literature and Languages, speak on April 12<sup>
</sup>in recognition of National Library Week. Dr. González will discuss the much-maligned storytelling form of comic books. Taking his audience through such characters as Ghost Rider, Blue Beetle, and Ultimate Spider-Man, Dr. González will posit how long-established
characters can be reimagined as Latino characters. These sorts of creative decisions have a significant impact both on the characters as well as the Latino communities they inhabit, to say nothing of their readers. <o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Dr. González is a scholar of Latino/a literature and culture across media. He has authored and edited books on Latinos and Latino culture in the NFL, Sci-Fi, comic books, film, and literature. Dr. González's program will explore themes
related to education, literacy, storytelling, impact, and culture.<o:p></o:p></p>
