Accordingly, I have recommended the request be granted and the President subsequently has approved it. Given the timing of this matter and its importance to the University, an appropriately thorough, national search for a permanent successor cannot begin until after the holidays. Plans are consequently now under consideration for temporary, ad interim coverage of the office in the months immediately ahead.
