University-Commerce is committed to high quality research and to providing our
faculty, post doctoral associates, professional staff, graduate and
undergraduate students with a conducive environment to conduct research in a
responsible manner. As a result, there are various areas of research compliance
in which each individual who is involved in research must gain adequate

for more details about the various areas of research compliance training that
researchers must complete before engaging in research (protection of human
subjects, animal care and use, responsible conduct in research, etc…).<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times","serif"'> <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times","serif"'>Through the Office
of Sponsored Programs, various forms of training are available including
workshops, seminars, and the recently purchased online training software, </span><span
style='font-family:"Times","serif"'>Collaborative Institutional Training
Institute (CITI). Faculty, staff, and students who successfully complete
the appropriate training module of CITI will satisfy the compliance requirement
for Federal regulations</span><span style='font-family:"Times","serif"'>.
Starting January 1, 2010, all researchers must</span><span style='font-family:
"Times","serif"'> successfully complete the ethics module, along with all
required modules based on the nature of the research, in CITI. </span><span
style='font-family:"Times","serif"'>Once a specific course is completed, each
researcher will receive a certificate, which is valid for two years, at which
time a refresher course must be taken.</span><span style='font-family:"Times","serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Times","serif"'>These efforts will
help us continue to better meet the Federal compliance requirements, and also </span><span
style='font-family:"Times","serif"'>uphold the highest standard of integrity
and honesty in all aspects of research and scholarship carried out at the
