is the completion of the 4<sup>th</sup> week of the semester and the early intervention
electronic reporting process will be in place early next week. Faculty will
identify freshmen and sophomores<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>students
in their classes at risk of doing poorly or failing due to non-attendance, poor
test grade, low scores on assignments, or symptoms of personal problems. Campus
student support<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>services
have as their mission to support struggling students. Identifying these
students provides the opportunity to talk with them, check on barriers that may
be preventing them from being<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>successful
and connecting them to the appropriate campus services. Early intervention may
get them headed in the right direction allowing them to continue toward their
pursuit of an<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>education.
Because data indicates a large percentage of sophomores leave the university, beginning
this semester Early Intervention process is expanding to include them.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>The
electronic reporting process asks you to report only freshman and sophomore
students in need of assistance; therefore, you will no longer need to report on
all students in your class. This<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>change
will reduce the amount of reporting required and allow you to focus your
efforts on those students about whom you’ve noticed academic performance
or behaviors that indicate a need<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>for
intervention. Should you have a class for which you have no student
concerns, you may mark the check box at the top of your roster indicating that
you have reviewed your roster.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>Thank
you all for your continued efforts to identify and work with students who need
a little extra encouragement or understanding of the content field. Early
Intervention efforts, including<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman","serif"'>FSS
classes and adhering to admission requirements, have resulted in an increase
from 59% retention, fall to fall, to 66%. Should you have questions or
