Provost Search Advisory Committee is pleased to report that a rich group of 50
applicants were received by the search firm as of the closing date for
applications.<o:p></o:p></span></font></b></p>

style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Courier New";color:blue;font-weight:bold'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></b></p>

committee met the afternoon of the 20<sup>th</sup> of January to review all
applications and classify them into categories of “deserving further
interest” or “no further information is desired”. This process
resulted in a group of 18 applications that the committee will contact
references furnished by the applicants. After all references are
contacted by committee members, the committee will reconvene to further reduce
the number of candidates to from six to eight applicants. These applicants
will be invited for off-campus face-to-face interviews. A group of
approximately three applicants will be forwarded to President Jones for
permission to invite for on-campus interviews.<o:p></o:p></span></font></b></p>

mid-April we should be close to knowing the name of our new Provost and
Vice-President for Academic Affairs. Please be mindful of the oath of
secrecy that the committee took in preparation for this search. In order
to obtain a group of serious quality candidates that are happy in their present
job, it is necessary to retain confidentiality of applications. When we
invite applicants for on-campus interviews, they will be public and available
for all interested parties to participate.<o:p></o:p></span></font></b></p>
