of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees with a major in Liberal Studies.
This degree program is approved to begin fall 2007. We thought the
following description might be helpful to the university community in

style='font-size:12.0pt'>The Liberal Studies program is a completion
baccalaureate degree for students that have sufficient hours in two or more
disciplines. This program allows students to integrate two or more academic
fields through a core set of four courses that emphasizes interdisciplinary
approaches to critical inquiry. The degree addresses a nontraditional student
demographic. This demographic may be older, racially, and ethnically more
diverse, commuter rather than residential, part-time rather than full-time, and
much more likely to be the first in their families to attend college.
Therefore, this degree program includes flexibility as well as coherence, and
students will be able to select courses taught through non-traditional means
(distance education and online courses) as well as through the traditional
classroom method. This program would seek to accomplish the following objectives:
