faculty of the availability of the one-month intensive National Faculty
Development Institute on "Incorporating Japanese Studies into the
Undergraduate Curriculum." The program is designed for full-time faculty
without prior experience in Japanese studies who wish to incorporate
information about <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region>
into the undergraduate courses they teach. Academic administrators and librarians
who can impact undergraduate education are also welcome. The program is only
open to faculty and administrators at AASCU member institutions.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

the San Diego State University campus, involves one month of intensive
seminars, lectures, readings, films, discussion groups and cultural activities
related to Japanese history, culture, literature, government, business,
language and education. While modern <st1:country-region w:st="on">Japan</st1:country-region>
serves as the focus for the program, participants are provided with a firm
foundation in the pre-modern history and culture of <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Japan</st1:place></st1:country-region>. Institute faculty include
scholars, representatives from the local Japanese business community, artists,
journalists, and government officials. The Institute provides a wonderful
opportunity for your faculty to gain knowledge and insights that will aid them
in their professional development and in their teaching.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
