<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">After four years of service, Dr. Joann DiGeorgio-Lutz has indicated that she will step down as the Honors Director effective at the end of the fall 2005 semester. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. DiGeorgio-Lutz for the outstanding work she has done in this capacity. She has made a difference in many students' lives and has fostered a climate of high expectations and fine achievement. </FONT></P>
<P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">It is now time for me to solicit nominations for her replacement. The individuals chosen as finalists for the position will be asked to participate in an Open Faculty Forum before a final selection of the Honors Director is made. Those wishing to be considered for the position should provide a letter of interest, a letter from their department heads about their qualifications, and the names and contact information for three campus references. <P ALIGN=LEFT><FONT FACE="Arial">The Honors Director receives a two-course release for fall and spring semesters and receives a one-course equivalent payment for Summer II session. A 30-hour per week secretary and student workers are provided to support the honors program. Duties include the following:</FONT></P>

<OL TYPE=1><DIV ALIGN=LEFT><LI><FONT FACE="Arial">Publicizes and promotes the University Honors Program</FONT></LI></DIV>
<DIV ALIGN=LEFT><LI><FONT FACE="Arial">Coordinates events such as Honors Colloquia, Honors Day Luncheon, and honors graduates' luncheons.</FONT></LI></DIV>
<DIV ALIGN=LEFT><LI><FONT FACE="Arial">Serves as advisor to the Student Honors Council and coordinates all Alpha Chi activities.</FONT></LI></DIV>
<DIV ALIGN=LEFT><LI><FONT FACE="Arial">Coordinates all honors theses and honors courses.</FONT></LI></DIV>
