<div>The Thursday afternoon session with representatives from Educator
and from WebCT Vista will be held in IT 233, one of our distance ed
rooms.&nbsp; Therefore, it will also be available, via
videoconferencing, to faculty and students in Mesquite, in Room
135.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>As Provost Scott had announced in her message a week ago,</div>
<blockquote><font face="Times New Roman">The Texas A&amp;M University
System is considering the purchase of WebCT Vista<font
color="#000080"> (a</font>n academic enterprise online course
management system<font color="#000080">)</font> and we have been asked
if we want to participa<font color="#000080">te</font> in this
initiative.&nbsp; This is a critical issue for our institution and one
which requires broad-based input from faculty and students.&nbsp; Many
of you have invested time and energy in preparing online and
web-supported courses using Educator, and the input I have received is
that most of you are pleased with this system.&nbsp; Therefore, I have
asked the academic and student affairs technology committee, chaired
by Sue Espinoza, to analyze the proposal, solicit input from all
stakeholders, and provide me with a recommendation by October
11th.&nbsp;</font></blockquote>

<div>We are requesting your participation and input, and encourage you
to attend either the Commerce or Mesquite demonstration and
question/answer session on Thursday, July 30, from 1-3.&nbsp; Commerce
will meet in IT 233, and Mesquite will meet in MPLX 135.</div>
