Colleagues,
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Yasemin Atinc as the inaugural Chief Academic Officer (CAO) for Extended Sites at East Texas A&M University, effective September 1. This senior leadership role is a vital step in our ongoing efforts to expand the visibility, reach, and impact of our academic mission beyond the Commerce campus.
Dr. Atinc brings to this role over a decade of distinguished service to our institution, having served as a tenured full professor of Marketing in the College of Business, where she has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Most recently, she has had three highly successful years as the President of Faculty Senate, where her leadership and forward-thinking advocacy have been instrumental in advancing key academic initiatives.
As CAO for Extended Sites, Dr. Atinc will oversee the academic operations and program portfolio of our extended university sites (excluding the Dallas site and RELLIS). Her responsibilities will include expanding programs that align with local workforce needs, fostering student success, supporting faculty development, and strengthening partnerships with employers and community stakeholders.
This is a critical role that will help us grow enrollment, elevate the university’s presence across East Texas, and enhance the educational experience for students at our extended sites. Dr. Atinc's experience, collaborative spirit, and deep understanding of our university’s mission make her exceptionally well-suited to lead this important work.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Yasemin Atinc on her new role and in offering her your full support as she steps into this exciting position.
