Good morning faculty and staff at East Texas A&M University!
As you no doubt know, last week the Board of Regents (BOR) voted unanimously for the name change of our university to East Texas A&M University. More about the BOR decision and the message that went out Thursday afternoon from the President can be found at

As we transition to East Texas A&M, just a reminder that there is no change in our Strategic Plan or our mission to transform lives! For questions about the university rebranding process, please look at the university FAQ website:
https://www.tamuc.edu/name-change-faqs/
My understanding is that this page will continue to be updated as more questions arise, so make sure to check back to see updates over the upcoming several weeks. In addition, feel free to collect questions that you and your colleagues have, and if general inquiries, send to Michael Johnson; if more division specific or financial, send to the dean of your college and/or your supervisor. We'll all do our best to answer any questions.
I am working closely with our division leadership to address the rebranding and our transition over the upcoming several months. You most likely will be hearing from the dean of your college/unit with more specific plans for moving forward. Clearly, there are many moving parts, and this will be a process over time, rather than a quick, overnight change. One action, however, that you can take immediately includes changing your email signature line. Once you complete yours, please remind and assist others to do so as well. I suspect that you will also be hearing fairly soon from your direct supervisor or dean regarding new business cards. Latsons is providing a significant cost reduction if ordered within the next 30 days; this reduction alone should save us a considerable amount.
Thanks to the System and President's Office, the Division of Academic Affairs will be receiving an allocation to assist with costs for rebranding. This should help with some initial costs, (e.g., business cards, name tags, recruitment necessities, etc), and cover additional purchases as we move forward. I have shared with divisional leadership that I will continue to advocate as needed, and do my best to partner with all as much as I can.
On a final note, I ask for your insights and creativity. As we focus on the many needed changes surrounding the rebranding logistics, as well as our day to day responsibilities and activities, I hope as a division that we think about the "bigger picture," one that explores how we might capitalize on this university name change to not only promote our students' and their successes, but also highlight academics, your talents and impressive work, and our plans for the future.
Although this is a busy time, and with some unknowns, I do know that we are better together, and that we are all members of the Lion Family. I thank each one of you for your hard work, commitment, and determination to support our students and each other! Go Lions!
Please take good care,
tvh
