[VPAAEtal] Important Fall 2024 D2L Course Notification

Attention Faculty,
There are some upcoming changes in D2L that will impact your teaching experience during the Fall 2024 semester and beyond.  These involve a new "Creator+" tool and a new content layout through the New Learner Experience (NLE).  Training for both changes should start as early as March 20th, and upcoming semester courses should be available in D2L by March 8th.
What does this mean for you?
You will need to become familiar with NLE and be prepared to use its new layout in all courses starting with the Fall 2024 semester.  You are also encouraged to learn about the Creator+ tool and see how it can be used to enhance the learning opportunities provided to students within your courses.
What is NLE, and when will this happen?
D2L has made strides to make numerous course design improvements through this new experience, and D2L intends to make NLE the default experience for the content tab in all courses.  It also works well with the new Creator+ tool.  This should be a seamless change for any existing content, but it will change some of the processes you use to navigate and modify content within the "Content" tab.
Implementation of NLE will result in a new look for the "Content" tab in every course starting with the Fall 2024 semester. What is Creator+, and when can I use it?
Creator+ is a new tool that allows new ways to present information within courses including some interactive formative self-assessment options.  The tool is used within the standard text box and can be used with existing text, images, and embedded videos. Creator+ will only be available within semester courses to everyone starting in Fall 2024, but training will begin as early as March 20th.  Creator+ access within Summer I and Summer II courses will be limited to a small number of pilot participants.  Some pilot participants have already been invited, but there should also be room for a few volunteers. Access to upcoming semester courses in D2L
All courses for the May Mini, Summer I, Summer II, August Mini, and Fall 2024 semesters that are listed in Banner should be available in D2L by March 8th.  A notification will be sent out after that process is completed.
