Dr. April Sanders appointed Assistant Dean, College of Innovation and Design

Please join me in congratulating Dr. April Sanders on her appointment as Assistant Dean in the College of Innovation and Design.  Dr. Sanders earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Texas, a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Stephen F. Austin University and an additional Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Central Arkansas. She holds Principal (EC-12) and Secondary English (6-12) teaching certification and has experience teaching English for 6th-9th graders.  Most recently, she served as Department Head for Curriculum and Instruction, where she has served as Associate Professor since 2021.  Before joining the A&M-Commerce faculty, she was an Associate Professor at Spring Hill College.  Dr. Sanders' impressive research agenda and extensive grant experience provide value to the growing programs in the College of Innovation and Design, especially Pride Pathway and alternative teacher certification in competency-based format.  Dr. Sanders will join the college to oversee existing degree programs, work to create employer-relationships at the Dallas site, and collaborate with partners across the university to build and maintain degree offerings for adult completers and working professionals.
