Dear TAMUC Faculty and Instructors,
The Writing Center is open for Spring Semester!
We offer online, one-on-one, 45-minute sessions to support writers at any stage in the writing process, from the blank page to the polished draft. To learn more about us and book an appointment, writers can visit our website (www.tamuc.edu/writing-center<http://www.tamuc.edu/writing-center>).
We offer Class Visits. One of our tutors can visit your class and provide a 15-minute introduction to the Writing Center. We can visit via Zoom or in person. We’ll talk about what we do, different ways we can support writers, how to prepare (or not prepare) for a session, and how to make appointments. To schedule a Class Visit, we ask you complete a Class Visit Request Form<https://forms.gle/mp6hhiGN9E2gbeib7>.
To learn more about how the Writing Center can support faculty and instructors—including pedagogical consultations and writing groups—visit our website’s page for Faculty & Instructors<https://www.tamuc.edu/writing-center/#tamuc-section-207854> and click “resources.” You can find the Class Visit Request Form there as well.
Below I’ll include a blurb that can be used in syllabi or on D2L. It describes what we do and how students can get in touch with us.
If you have any questions, send us an email (writingcenter at tamuc.edu<mailto:writingcenter at tamuc.edu>).
All my best,
Kelin Loe
Writing Center – Syllabus or D2L Blurb
The Writing Center offers writers free, one-on-one assistance. We currently only offer 45min, online sessions that writers can book from our website: www.tamuc.edu/writing-center<http://www.tamuc.edu/writing-center>
We welcome all writers, majors, and disciplines—undergraduate and graduate students alike (faculty and staff too!). Research shows that all workers benefit from sharing their work with a focused reader. The Writing Center staff is trained to support writers in any stage of the writing process (from the blank page to polishing sentences), and we work with writers to verbalize writing goals and to stay on track with larger writing projects. We work with any form of writing (academic and nonacademic). The writers usually bring projects like important emails, weekly writing assignments, midterm and final essays, and theses and dissertations. Contact us with any questions here: writingcenter at tamuc.edu<mailto:writingcenter at tamuc.edu>
