Dear Faculty,

Due to your instructional expertise and leadership skills, you’ve been invited to participate in one of the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE)’s selective professional development program.

Effective Teaching Practices (full course: 25 weeks)

Through this professionally facilitated program, you'll work collaboratively with a supportive community of colleagues to further reflect upon and refine your instructional practices. During the program, you’ll have the opportunity to couple your instructional expertise with engaging, research-based teaching practices to improve student outcomes.

The program addresses all of the core competencies defined in ACUE’s Effective Practice Framework©<https://acue.org/?acue_courses=acues-effective-practice-framework> and is organized into five major areas of practice:

· Designing an Effective Course

· Establishing a Productive Learning Environment

· Using Active Learning Strategies

· Promoting Higher Order Thinking

· Assessing to Inform Instruction and Promote Learning

Here is some additional information regarding the timeline and time commitment for the course:

· This course begins August 22nd, 2022.

· Cohorts typically complete one module per week over 25 weeks.

· Internal ACUE research indicates that a faculty member spends approximately 2-3 hours of activity per week, on average, in the course.

At the end of either program, to acknowledge and celebrate your completion, you will earn:

· A nationally recognized Certificate in Effective College Instruction, the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education<https://www.acenet.edu/Pages/default.aspx> (ACE).

· A signed letter from the chancellor for your tenure portfolio

Focus On ACUE Best Practices Implementation

A key feature of our ACUE course design is our emphasis on motivating faculty to implement the teaching practices that promote student engagement, persistence, and academic success. Implementation of these teaching practices is key to an enhanced learning experience for ACUE faculty participants and their students.
