University Community
Due to the pandemic, there will be two commencement ceremonies next month. On Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8, ceremonies will be held for summer 2020 graduates, and on Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15, ceremonies will be held for spring 2020 graduates.
Faculty will not be required to attend the events. In order to accommodate the number of graduates and guests, the ceremonies will be held in two locations -- University Fieldhouse and Morris Recreation Center. The ceremonies will be “rolling,” which means there will be no seating. The graduates and their guests (limited number) will enter the venue together. The graduate will proceed to the stage and get a photograph taken with the diploma cover, and the graduate and his/her guests will immediately leave the building. There will be no speaker, just the awarding of the diploma cover.
To keep the number of attendees to a minimum, all persons entering the buildings are required to have a ticket. To comply with state, local and CDC guidelines, all attendees will be required to wear a mask and social distancing will be enforced.
Thank you for your dedication to our students and University as your contributions helped make the spring and summer semesters successful.
