Undergraduate Research Grant Competition
Deadline is Monday, October 16, 2017 by 5:00 pm for the Fall 2017 Competition
The Undergraduate Research Grant Competition is held to assist undergraduate students who may require funding as they pursue research or creative activities. Proposed funds can be used for the purchase of equipment, software licenses, printing, postage, data searches, and data collection. Students may request a maximum of $500. These funds cannot be used to pay student wages or for travel. Funds must be used by December 31, 2017 and processed by January 31, 2018.
To apply, students must submit a proposal that includes the methodology to be used, expected outcomes, and funding requirements. The body of the proposal should be no longer than 5 pages (this limit does not include references, abstracts, or appendices). All proposals need to include sections on expected outcomes and specific fund utilization. Expected outcomes include (but are not limited to): a conference presentation, an exhibition of one's creative work, completion of an undergraduate Honors thesis, and/or a publication.
There is a new requirement to apply. Students must have a protocol for their research submitted to the appropriate compliance committee (IACUC, IBC, or IRB). The student's advisor must be the one to submit the protocol and include the student on the protocol.
The webpage contains the complete guidelines for the application.
