[VPAAEtal] Call for 2016-2017 Faculty Senate Annual Faculty Awards

Faculty,

as we prepare for the upcoming Spring semester, I hereby issue the call for nominees for the Faculty Senate’s annual faculty awards.   For those of you who are unfamiliar with the awards, a list of all of them along with descriptions of each can be found at the following link: http://www.tamuc.edu/aboutUs/policiesProceduresStandardsStatements/rulesProcedures/12faculty/general/12.99.99.R0.03.pdf.

Senators from each department will submit a ballot listing one and only one nominee for each award.  (I have attached a copy of the ballot to this e-mail for the purpose of illustration) To ensure that high-quality and worthy candidates are nominated, I would encourage all of you to contact your Senator and suggest the names of deserving faculty.  Your suggestions should include the full names of the nominees, the nominees’ academic departments, and their full e-mail addresses.

Senators' ballots are due no later than February 10, 2017.  Faculty Senate Awards Committee Chair, Dr. Benjamin May, will both receive the completed ballots as well as answer any questions you may have about the awards. Once the ballots have been collected, the committee will contact nominees and ask them to provide supporting documentation for the committee’s review.  Upon review and after careful deliberation, the committee will make one recommendation per award to the full Faculty Senate for approval.  The award recipients will be announced at the Faculty Award Luncheon in April 2017.

We hope that by both publicizing this process and the list of awards earlier in the academic year that we will increase the number of deserving nominees who are given due consideration.
