Faculty,

CFEI's commitment is to support, collaborate, and communicate with you, our faculty, to whom we provide services. Accordingly, I would like to update you regarding the CFEI's current investigative/collaborative work on implementing the University's new LMS.

Investigative information gathering continues and focuses on capturing input from University stakeholders. This information will assist us in ramping up quickly to an implementation timeline for the LMS. To date, meetings have been held with the following:

* FCAC Members - AKA Faculty Center Advisory Committee (scheduled to meet monthly)

* Each of the five (5) College Deans

* Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness

* Associate Provost for Academic Foundations

* Director of Student Disability Resources & Services and EIR Officer

* College of Business Department Heads meeting

* College of Humanities, Social Science, Arts Department Heads meeting

* Program Director, Organizational Leadership (ORGL Tab Program)

*        Chair, Department of Chemistry

* Chair, Department of Computer Science & Information Systems

*        Chair, Department of Mathematics

* Chair, Department of Engineering & Technology

* Chair, Department of Physics & Astronomy

*        Chair, Department of Art

* Chair, Department of Curriculum & Instruction

* Chair, Chair, Department of Educational Leadership

* Chair, Department of Health & Human Performance

*        Chair/Director of Nursing

* Chair, Department of Psychology, Counseling & Special Education

*        Chair, Social Work

* Chair, Higher Education and Learning Technologies
One-on-one meetings with the remainder of Academic Department Chairs, have been/will be scheduled upon receipt of their course lists and the Department Chair's availability.
The following are findings which have flowed out of the above meetings:

1. Migrate courses by individual instructor. This course migration results in need to migrate and conduct before and after QA checks on approximately 2,500 blended and fully online courses.

2. Further consideration is needed as to whether or not to migrate what have been referred to in the existing LMS as 'enhanced courses.' This would mean migrating approximately an additional 2,015 courses. (Note: Recommendation shared with department chairs to review "E" courses to confirm course type (F2F, Blended) and recode if needed.
Also flowing out of meetings with the Department Chairs, is the need to obtain direction from our administration in the areas listed below. The CFEI is scheduled to meet with Deans Council on Tuesday, December 20th. The following clarifying questions will be posed to the Deans with the goal of establishing a clear direction as we enter this period of LMS transition.

* What is our accessibility process moving forward?

* How will the University apply Quality Matters?

* What LMS-integrated course evaluation tool is the best fit for the University's electronic SRTEs and potential learning analytics needs?

* Will the University adopt a policy for the universal use of the LMS Gradebook?

* Will the university migrate existing ClassLivePro (CLP) content , and if so, how?

* How much access does the university want to continue to have to data from Pearson Learning Studio beyond the contract expiration date?
For continued communication throughout the migration and implementation process, you are welcome to email ProjectNOVA at tamuc.edu<mailto:ProjectNOVA at tamuc.edu>.
