CONSTITUTION DAY
Monday, September 19, 2016
11:00 a.m. - Noon
Texas A&M University- Commerce will observe Constitution Day on Monday, September 19, 2016 from 11:00AM until noon in the Sam Rayburn Memorial Student Center Pride Room.
This year's observance will focus upon the origins and history of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. Controversies over the newly implemented Campus Carry and Open Carry in the state of Texas are very much on the minds of many students, faculty, and staff on campus.
Our speakers for Constitution Day are scholars who bring important perspectives to these issues. Dr. John Howard Smith, Professor of History, specializes in Colonial/ Revolutionary America, Religion, and American Indian history. Dr. Chad King, Assistant Professor of Political Science is an expert in Constitutional law.
Refreshments will be served and an opportunity for questions will follow the speakers' presentations.
