System Member Policy Compliance Officers,

 

Revisions to System Regulation 31.08.01, Granting of Emeritus Status
<http://policies.tamus.edu/31-08-01.pdf> , were approved by the
Chancellor, effective June 26, 2012.

 

A brief summary of the revisions follows.

 

 

Title:  The title is updated to include "emerita" and is clarified to
indicate this regulation establishes the standards of eligibility for
faculty and staff.

 

Section 3:  The requirement for emeritus title recommendations to
include brief narrative summaries of the candidates' accomplishments and
worthiness of the emeritus/emerita designations is deleted.  Current
practice does not include these narratives and approval of these
designations does not appear to be hindered without it.

 

This regulation was updated into the new format and various wording was
changed to conform to system style guidelines.   

 

 

Feel free to distribute this regulation among your staff as you deem
appropriate.
