Faculty Center for Teaching with Technology (FCTT)
Partnering with faculty in the delivery of engaging, relevant,
interactive, and diverse curriculum across all modalities of instruction
The Faculty Center for Teaching with Technology (FCTT) is comprised of
two teams specifically designed to meet faculty instructional needs in
any classroom environment whether it be face to face or virtual.
The FCTT Classroom & Multimedia Technologies Team, comprised of a video
support specialist, a classroom technology specialist, and a multimedia
technologist, provide a variety of services including:
* Audio-Video production studio services including editing and
post-production services
* One-on-one training concerning classroom technologies (e.g.,
interactive whiteboards, document cameras, projectors)
* Support services related to interactive video classrooms
One of the Classroom & Multimedia Technologies Team's current projects
involves working with faculty members to capture their classroom
lectures. The Classroom & Multimedia Technologies Team works with the
faculty members to create an optimal recording environment during the
lecture and also provides post-production services once the recording is
complete. Faculty use these lecture captures in a variety of ways
including to supplement their online instruction and provide students
with a way to review content discussed in class.
The FCTT Instructional Design Team, comprised of instructional designers
and eLearning specialists, provide a variety of services including:
* Customizable group training concerning instructional design,
techniques, and tools (e.g., collaboration, blended learning,
accessibility, rubrics)
* One-on-one consultations concerning course content and
technological assets for face to face, blended, and online courses
* Support services related to the building and maintenance of
courses and course templates in the Learning Management System
(eCollege).
One of the Instructional Design Team's current projects involve working
with departments to create "source" courses for both fully online and
enhanced courses. Utilizing a team approach towards course
design/redesign the instructional designers and eLearning specialists
work with faculty to create courses that can be used as a foundation for
all instructors teaching that course. The content of these foundational
courses include: course and unit outcomes/objectives, lecture resources,
learning activities, suggested assignments, and rubrics. The use of
these "source" courses helps to strengthen the alignment of learning
outcomes/objectives with course content and encourages the use of
different forms of technology to foster an interactive learning
environment.
