Dear Faculty of Academic Affairs and Dean Headley,
The first sentence--"a systematic study directed toward fuller
scientific knowledge or understanding of the subject studied" seems to
omit the arts faculty from consideration. At the very least it seems to
profess favor towards the investigative research of the sciences. Is
that the intention of the Junior Faculty Research Award? If so, I
respect the restriction, but suggest you do not send the announcement
campus-wide.
I have attached the approved policy for RSCA in Music, the forward of
which makes a case for creative activities as music scholarship.
Respectfully
Chris White
