To Faculty and Staff: 

 

As you may know, Dr. Rusty Waller has been serving as ad interim head of
the Department of Educational Leadership for nearly a year.   You may
also know a national search for a permanent appointment to the position
was recently posted, advertised in appropriate venues.  Dr. Waller has
determined he does not wish to be considered for the permanent position
and has thus requested permission to step down  at the end of this
semester to resume full-time faculty status, Spring term, 2013.  That
request has been granted.

 

While the search for a permanent successor is continuing, Dr. James
(Jim) Vornberg, recently retired Professor of Educational Leadership;
former head, Department of Educational Administration (2001-2006);
Interim Dean, College of Education and Human Services (2006-07), and
long known faculty leader in educational leadership at ETSU/TAMUC since
1974, has graciously agreed to serve as interim department head,
Department of Educational Leadership, for the upcoming Spring, 2013
semester while the search for a permanent head continues.   

 

I wish to personally thank and ask others to join me in thanking, Dr.
Waller for his services to the department to date, and Dr. Vornberg for
his willingness to further extend his impressive record of service to
his department and college.
