Good Day Instructor!
Texas A&M University-Commerce's Council for the Study of Global Learning
requests your participation to complete a short online survey (10-20
minutes) regarding global education. More information about TAMU-C's
Council for the Study of Global Learning is provided at the end of this
email.
The purpose of this survey is to gain a better understanding of how
faculty at TAMU-C present (or would present) topics related to
globalization in undergraduate classes. A second purpose of the present
study is to examine the attitudes that faculty at TAMU-C hold regarding
topics related to global issues. This survey is anonymous (i.e., names
of participants will not be requested). The data from this study will be
presented to TAMU-C's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) committee, because
the information gained may aid the QEP committee in enhancing global
education at TAMU-C. Results may also be presented at professional
conferences and be published (participant names will not be connected to
presentation of any results from this survey).
The survey will be open for 2 weeks (the survey will close on Monday,
October 10, 2011).

The Council for the Study of Global Learning is a collection of scholars
examining global citizenship. We conduct theory-based basic laboratory
research and applied research examining global citizenship identity. We
also work with various university programs (e.g., study abroad) to
examine students' views of themselves and the world. Lastly, we are
working with the QEP committee at Texas A&M University-Commerce (TAMU-C)
in planning and assessing factors associated with their mission to
enhance global education at the university. Our goal is to create,
collaborate, track, assess, and provide feedback regarding TAMU-C's QEP
activities. We will work with departments as they develop action plans,
and provide the Council's resources to assess the effectiveness of the
action plans, and provide continuing feedback to those departments
concerning strengths and weaknesses of the action plans. Through
interventions, classroom activities, and environmental change we
empirically examine how individuals move from an ethnocentric worldview
to a global worldview. We plan to disseminate findings through academic
journals, and provide resources developed by the Council on the
Internet, free of charge, to aid teachers who wish to incorporate global
views in their classrooms. In effect, we seek to understand identity
processes concerning global citizenship and aid individuals to promote
this worldview.
