SUBJECT: Graduate School Travel Funds for Graduate
Students

The effective professional development of our graduate students often
requires that they travel to various conferences and workshops to
present their research findings. In an effort to encourage more
students to be involved in these professional development activities,
the Graduate School has limited funds to assist students with their
travel to research conferences and seminars to present their research
results.

To be eligible for travel funds, during the semester of their travel,
the applicants must be enrolled in nine semester hours of graduate
coursework for the long semesters or six semester hours of graduate
coursework for the summer. They are eligible for up to $500 and the
conference/seminar must be within the United States. Students in their
last semester may be enrolled in less than nine hours. Part-time
students with less than nine hours are eligible for up to $300.
Applications for travel funds must be submitted by the student prior to
traveling and must include a brief summary of the research the student
will present at the conference/seminar, letters of support from the
student's research advisor and department head, and the confirmation
from the conference approving the presentation. Once all these
documents have been received and eligibility is confirmed, an email will
be sent to the student notifying them of the award amount.

Upon return from the conference/seminar, the following documents must be
submitted to the Graduate School within 30 days: a written report of the
trip, and all receipts. The application and guidelines are located at
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/gradschool/forms/travelappform.doc.
