TO:      All faculty members, staff, and administration

RE:      Reorganization of Instructional Technology and Distance
Education

DATE:  March 30, 2011

Colleagues;

As most of you probably know, Joe Shipman will be leaving A&M-Commerce
to lead his own company out in the real and virtual world.  Joe has
provided extremely valuable service to this University, and we will miss
him, but wish him, and his wonderful family, the best in their
endeavors.  Everyone is invited to a reception honoring Joe and his
family for his service tomorrow, Thursday, March 31, from 2:00 to 4:00
in the Alumni Center Conference Room.

Effective April 1 (no fooling), Dr. Julie McElhany will assume the role
of Interim Director of Distance Education, and Mr. Mike Smith will
assume the role of Interim Director of Instructional Technology.  Leah
Kanaman will continue as Administrative Assistant for both areas.  A
more detailed organizational chart of the new structure, which reflects
our institutional commitment to both distance education and
instructional technology will be sent out April 4.

Again, thanks and congratulations to Joe Shipman for his years of
dedicated service to A&M-Commerce, and thanks to Mike, Julie, Leah, and
the entire Distance Education and Instructional Technology teams for
"stepping up" to the challenges and opportunities during this
transitional period.
