RE:                 Investiture Ceremony of President Dan R. Jones

                        Friday, February 6, 2009

 

Faculty and professional staff holding academic rank are cordially
invited and encouraged to attend a formal academic ceremony on Friday,
February 6, at 10:00 a.m. in the Ferguson Social Sciences Auditorium to
commemorate the Investiture of President Dan Jones as A&M-Commerce's
Eleventh President.  As a formal academic occasion complete with
processional and recessional, dress is full academic regalia.
Participating faculty and staff are asked to assemble in the hallway on
the first floor of the Ferguson Social Sciences Building at 9:30 a.m. to
form the processional line.

 

All classes between 8:00 a.m. and 12 noon that day have been officially
cancelled.  As the ceremony will be attended by dignitaries from The
Texas A&M University System staff and Board of Regents, the Texas State
Legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives as well as visiting
officials from other higher education institutions, learned societies
and professional organizations, faculty attendance and participation
will be much appreciated and add to the quality of the event
appreciably.

 

NOTE:  A related e-mail regarding current officers or delegates of
Learned Societies or Professional Organizations in Higher Education was
distributed earlier today.  Such officers or delegates planning to
attend on February 6 are urged to contact Ms. Linda King, Office of the
President, by January 26, for inclusion in the official Program.
