Good morning everyone:
I am pleased to share great news! Our current enrollment reports
indicate we are up by 3779 semester credit hours from the same period
(approximately one week before classes begin). This enrollment, coupled
with our winter-mini hours of 2893, indicates a significant increase
from last year.
As you know, this is the last semester of our base period and we need as
many semester credit hours as possible. Although we are all excited
about the enrollment, we must continue to push for credit hours and to
assist students so that they have paid required balances by our
established drop dates.
We will begin providing daily enrollment reports to the listserv. I
would like to thank everyone who has made the Money4Me initiative
successful. What a great example of what is possible when we work
together as a team!
Information is provided below and will be sent to the student listserv
that may be useful in serving our students:
Please help us communicate the following:
* All Money4Me scholarships will be posted by midnight.
Students should check their MyLeo account page. If a student believes
there is an error and the scholarship has not been posted, please ask
him or her to email Money4Me at tamu-commerce.edu.
* Approximately 184 housing scholarships have been pulled
because students did not have contracts. Students should contact
Residential Living and Learning at 903.886.5797. These scholarships can
be reinstated once contracts have been completed.
* Financial aid refunds for purchase of textbooks, etc., should
be received no later than Friday of this week for those students who use
direct deposit and no later than Saturday for those who use postal
service.
* If students plan to use the installment plan, please refer
them to the form located through MyLeo located under the LeoPay tab.
* Students may also qualify for short-term loans. For your
convenience, I have provided an excerpt from the website that explains
the process.

Explanation of Tuition and Short-Term Loans
University's Institutional Loan program offers two types of short term
loans--tuition loans and emergency loans.
Tuition loans pay the full amount of tuition/fees only and cannot be
used to pay housing or other university charges (including UPD traffic
tickets). Students do not receive a check with this loan - a credit is
made to offset tuition/fee charges. Tuition loans can cover course fees
as well, but not late registration fees. Applications for Tuition
Loans must be submitted by 12th class day for Fall/Spring terms and 4th
class day for Summer terms.
Emergency loan proceeds are in the form of a check to the student and
are intended to pay educational expenses (books, supplies, etc). Loans
are generally limited to a maximum of $400 during fall/spring terms
($200 during summer and mini terms). Generally emergency loan checks
are available the day following application (usually after 3 PM);
however, during high volume periods such as the start of a semester, it
may take 2-3 working days. Emergency loan checks cannot be distributed
before the first class day.
Eligibility for short-term loans:
1. Must be enrolled in the given term
2. Must be in good standing with the University
3. 2.0 GPA (undergraduate) or a 3.0 GPA (graduate) at TAMU-C only
4. Limited to one emergency loan or one book credit per semester.
Submission of an application does not guarantee approval. Loan funds
are limited and we may not be able to accommodate all applicants even if
eligibility requirements are met. Students are limited to one emergency
loan or one book credit per semester. Exceptions to eligibility
guidelines or loan procedures will be made strictly at the discretion of
the University. The Loan Office reserves the right to deny loan
approval to any student based on past payment performance or other
factors that negatively impact credit risk. Contact the Loan Office at
903-886-5051 for more information or refer to information on the main
Student Accounts webpage for current updates or email
