TO: University Faculty & Academic Department Heads

FROM: President Keith D. McFarland

In the last six weeks, many of you have read about the new Higher Education
Center that the Collin County Community College District (Collin CCCD) will
be building to provide opportunities for their students to pursue
baccalaureate and master's degrees without leaving the county. Our
university has been in discussion with the appropriate administrators for
over a year, and we are working to provide opportunities for their students
and our university.

I know many faculty and departments would like to be offering advanced work
in that venue, and some of you may have already talked with faculty at
Collin CCCD; however, all of our efforts must be coordinated. Consequently,
all interaction with anyone associated with Collin CCCD must go through Dr.
Mary Hendrix, Interim Provost and VP for Academic and Student Affairs. If
you have already talked to certain Collin CCCD faculty or staff, please
inform Dr. Hendrix of those conversations and do not continue those
discussions without her approval.

Thank you for helping us put forth a united front as we take steps to pursue
this opportunity.
